Secrets from Training

Celebrity Clients

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: DARIUS K. PIERCE

How long have you been training in LA?

I have been training for over 20 yrs started in a gym called (Brignoles) and been in love with the profession ever since. It feels really good to have helped people in the industry all these years. I'm very blessed.

Was it difficult to get celebrity clients?

Getting celebrities clients was not difficult for me I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity of being at the right place at the right time. I was confident and did a great job and along with that comes referrals. When it comes to celebrities you hardly ever get a second chance to make a first impression so it is important to look great and have your skills in tact. For the most part clients in the industry have the opportunity to sample the best of the best so it's up to you to build trust and deliver because they can compare and replace you more readily. Practice what you preach and make it challenging and fun

Who have you trained that is or was famous?

Kathy Valentine(guitarist of The Go Go's), Cheri Oteri  (SNL), Tim Kang (The Mentalist) etc.

Do you get them ready for movies or TV?

I train clients for both movies, TV, Concert tour etc.

Choose one celeb client and tell me a sample one day workout?

Tim Kang for instance is a all or nothing individual who's very athletic and likes to be challenged. It's really important to have new exercises for Tim because he loves learning new things and gets bored easy. Mini circuits for Tim usually consist of 3 or 4 exercises with compound movements to be done 3x in a 20 min period. (Example)

A)Decline pullovers w/crunch at the height of the movement.

B)Weighted Dips using the Roman chair touching knees to the back pad.

C)Peck deck flyes

D)10 wide step mountain climber using a 4 count rep. This followed with another 3 to 4 exercises done in succession.

Can you charge more for these clients than others?

You most definitely can charge more when necessary because the time needed to reach goals for a specific part or performance may require more time, supplements, and travel. It's very important to factor this in so you can do your very best work to get the results needed to get referrals.
